Telephone Access

If you are experiencing an emergency, you will always be able to speak with a doctor. Non-urgent calls (requests for appointments, test results, etc.) will be answered by the doctor/nurse between consultations or returned at the end of the doctor’s or nurse’s session, assuming they cannot be handled by reception staff.

After Hours

If you need advice or assistance after our normal hours, please phone 1300 130 147.

GP Access provides telephone advice to patients to help them decide what to do next. If it is necessary that you see a GP after normal business hours, you will be directed to the nearest clinic, which happens to be in Maitland.

If you require immediate attention, please phone one of the following:

• NSW Ambulance Service: 131 233
• Emergency: 000

Appointments

Please phone our office to make an appointment. We will make every effort to accommodate your preferred time and GP, though we do give priority to emergencies.

Appointments are scheduled at 10-minute intervals, though longer consultation times are available. Please let our staff know if you think you may need extra time. If there are unforeseen delays, our staff will attempt to contact you.

Walk-Ins

We accept all emergencies. If you do not have an appointment and it is not an emergency, you can see Dr Waris on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Home Visits

Please note that it is generally quicker and more efficient for patients to attend the surgery, as the doctor cannot carry all of the necessary forms and equipment in his bag. However, if you or your family member cannot attend the surgery because of a medical condition, a home visit can be conducted at the doctor’s discretion.

Please indicate if the matter is urgent.

Interpreter Service

If you or your family member will require an interpreter, please let our staff know when you make your appointment. We can use the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) or AUSLAN to organise this for you.

Car Parking

Car parking is situated at the rear of the practice. Disabled parking is also available.

Children:

Please feel free to bring your children with you to your appointment. We have plenty of books to keep them occupied.
